Life at DTU

Life at DTU

This is the best part of being at DTU. Sheer enjoyment, a joy to behold. Even if you are confined to the walls of your room or go out on a long walk alone in the green campus you will never forget this phase, this college for the rest of your lives. No matter how much you curse this place, you will remember this for ages.

1:You enter through this gate, skeptical and oblivious of what awaits you

2: You live in these hostels for four amazing years. You will love them for the fun and you will hate them for the rules and toilets.

3: You will love this campus, and hate it more. You will talk about how small it is until you have to go from hostel to the classes when it seems like miles.

4: This is where you will vent out your frustration. This is where you will feel the rush.

5: This is where you will sit when the classes go on with all the serious students attending them.

5:  This is where you will walk-in winters and in rains, after dinner and before dinner, with friends or while you talk to your to-be-wife. These roads will be a good friend for these four years.

6: This is where you are going to eat Maggie at 4 in the morn, when you are tired with playing enough of CS or watching porn. He is Maggie Baba, serving us for 40 years. Sheer devotion and love, well unless you hear him hurl abuses at you and your family for asking for a spoon or not having change. But that's love for you :)

7: And then there are fests in February to forget everything else.

You have mess menu which varies from South Indian to Chinese to gulaab jaamun every Thursday and night mess for exams days. Mess is one of the things I miss about the college. I have visited other colleges for competitions and DTU mess is far better than most of other college mess.
Then you have curfew time for girls till 11. It's extended to 12 or later during fests.
DTU campus at night and at dawn is beautiful. You can walk whole campus all alone mesmerizing the beauty of the campus, I did. :D
Then you have special places like wind point ( not a right place to go on a good hair day) Because you can feel winds every day, Everytime there. There is haunted lane, gym, and sunrise and sunset at OAT is the best. There is an amazing basketball court , tennis court, whole sports area. And an amazing library.
Hostel life of DTU is amazing, it gives you a chance to participate in societies work, events, fests apart from studying. Hostellers always have a benefit over day scholars because they get the time to improve their skills.
Boys hostel life:
Add more fun to boys hostel life. They don't have curfew timing, all hostels are located at one place. They have indoor badminton courts, better gyms, it's better to be a guy at DTU hostel. Multiply girls hostel fun by 10000 , you get guys hostel fun.
Day scholar:
I was day scholar during my first year, all I remember is carrying heavy bags to college and coming back with no energy. No time to participate in events and societies. But they sure stay with their family, focus more on their studies.
Classes :
how lenient classes will be depends on your branch, certain branch has Lenient teachers. Some has strict ones. But apart from classes, you have to study on your own, a lot.
Always stay in touch with your seniors, they can tell you which book to study for which subject, how do answer questions and all such study - related tricks.
But whatever it is, you are day scholar or a hostellers, try to make best of it.
There is no time as college years.
All the best, hope it helps !
